New Projects

While activity has been a bit slow since the completion of our school building we are currently working on a number of projects.

Jino our East Timorese manager, is presently collecting information including financials and plans for the following projects.

Project 1: Teaching Scholarship.
We are looking at providing a scholarship to a student that went through Escola Pre-Secondaria Foho Ailico who wants to undertake teacher training. We are looking at providing funding to cover the course fees and a small living allowance.

Project 2; Pre-schools

We are looking at costings and plans for two pre-schools. One to be built at the current Bei Cala school complex. This will enhance the existing Primary School and High School arrangement.  The second pre-school is for the small village of Boramba, which is a feeder area for Bei Cala and has a small primary school. We are looking at one room buildings, possibly open but undercover.

I envisage having all these costings and plans by the end of February, when the committee will meet and make final arrangements. These are very exciting additions to our ongoing involvement in Bei Cala and East Timor.

2015 Charity Event Update

Everything is coming together for the 2015 Sgt. Matthew Locke MG Charity Match. A lot of work has been done on the stand at the Graveyard thanks to the Magpies and their many helps and the successful grants they received. Well done boys. At present we are finalising VIP attendance and his Excellency General David Hurley, Governor of NSW and Mrs Hurley will be attending. We also hope that our patron Cpl. Ben Roberts-Smith VC, MG will also be here.

Following last years successful 'Footy Show' segment we have been doing a lot more promoting on social media. Thanks to Phil Bailey for all his help. At times I can be a little IT challenged and Phil has smoothed the way.

We are also sorting out some great raffles for this year. A real local winner which is a package that includes $100 meat voucher donated by Valley Quality Meats and $100 Grocery voucher at IGA Bellingen. Thanks to both Louie and Chelsea for there assistance. We appreciate the support.

This years line up will once again include the 3 ball Ambrose on Friday 27th February. Teams can sign up at the Bellingen Golf Club. A very succesful event in 2014 we are hoping to see even more competition. $90 per team and carts can be hired.

On Sunday 1st March the Army Band will be once again providing an additional concert at C.ex Coffs Harbour. Doors open at 11am. They will be supported by Coffs Harbour Regional Brass Band. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the C.ex Coffs Harbour. Thanks to Dave Ellis and the team for their continued support.

Bellingen Shire Council is also providing ongoing support and after providing additional grant funds we will be purchasing flags which will be dotted around the various venues. They are also sponsoring the BBQ 'Welcome'  lunch for golfers and teams on Friday 27th. We very much appreciate Mayor Mark Troy and his teams continued support.

I believe the Magpies will start training this week. Go for it boys and bring on February.
