Matthew Locke Charity Match
3rd Annual
Sgt. Matthew Locke MG Charity Match
Army Thunder were once again successful in defeating the tough Bellingen Magpies 34 to 16. Right from the start the Thunder were determined and were up 3 tries in the first 20 minutes but Magpies fought back and nearly leveled the score. In the end Thunder held out. As always Bellingen turned out to cheer on the local side. It was an action filled game watched by Cpl Ben Roberts-Smith recent VC winner and Vice Chief of Defence Force Lt Gen. David Hurley. All supporters and organisations involved should be proud of their efforts. A great community afternoon!
Local Bellingen boy wins Holden Barina
With a Holden Barina up for grabs this year, it was a great moment when local boy Rodney Wright won the Red Holden Barina. Surprise, despite the fact that the kids didn't like it, couldn't hide the excitement of everyone on the ground as the prize was drawn during the half time of the main game. Many people had been selling tickets around the valley for the last 6 months in the great car adventure and it was great to see a local person at Bellingen Park walk out. Mayor Mark Troy and Federal Member Luke Hartsukyer drew out the winner ticket and Rodney was stoked!

Great Success!
The Matthew Locke Charity Match held in Bellingen on the 27th of February, 2010 was a great success with Army Thunder coming out winners 22 to 20.
It was a exciting match that had both sides taking the lead throughout the game. Best and Fairest for the match were Matt Bush for Bellingen and Cpl. C Gill for Thunder.
Bellingen Juniors should not be forgotten for their entertaining hit out against Orara Valley Tomahawks. Bellingen won 5 tries to 1.
The Under 18's and Women's Touch teams should also be mentioned. It was an awe inspiring afternoon which raised funds for Legacy, The Grub Club and the local juniors. Congratulations to organisers from the Magpies and Thunder who put in such effort and all those who helped including David Peachey.
In particular all those who attended. We look forward to an excellent day next year.
