Another successful year!
Army Thunder have completed a hat trick winning the 4th Annual Sgt. Matthew Locke MG Charity Match 26 to 6 at the Graveyard, Bellingen on Saturday 25th of February. A very successful afternoon included face painting for the kids, raffles and auctions, food and drink. Patrons had the opportunity to win the unique quilt made by Jenny Chapman and called 'Memories' and congratulations goes to Kath McPhail of Brierfield. The accommodation at Hyde Park Inn with airfares provided by Legacy was won by Nigel Camm while Greg Oborn won the 2nights at Opal Cove Resort. Congratulations to all winners big and small.
On Sunday 286 people turned up to C.ex Coffs Harbour to participate in The Army Band Concert. And what a concert. Capt. Dave Thompson led a talented group of men and women of the Australian Army including a singer who took the audience through a variety of music from classical to blues. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.
Over the week Wendy Ricardo's photo's of Timor Leste were on display at the Bellingen Library and Everything that's Beautiful Gallery in Bellingen. They were enjoyed by many resulting in a number being sold. Thank you to Wendy and Mario for the loan and their generosity in donating proceeds to the event.
At present counting the event has raised ver $10,000 for the nominated charities and we hope it will be more by the time it is finalised.
Organisers are already planning a better event, if it can get better, for next year and hope to have some exciting preliminary games included in the line up. Thank you to all those people who attended, supported, sponsored and donated, we are very grateful.
